The day was developed by Eng. Francisco Betorz, Area Manager of SAS in Italy. During the presentation and turn of requests and questions, the importance that fertilization has in the crop success was exposed - in fact, the special fertilizers and fertilizers represent a very small percentage on the total production cost, although they can influence in the final production in a tremendously superior percentage -. Strawberry crop in Calabria is concentrated almost in its totality in the plain of Lamezia Terme, where a very few years ago protected crop replaced totally former farms at open field; also they evolved from frigo-conserved plant to fresh plant (more adapted to the handling under plastic) thus allowing to anticipate the harvest at the end of January.
